UAJ President: ''We are confident that this 45th edition will be a great success, just like the 2005 World Championships in Egypt''.

The president of the UAJ said that Egypt had a great deal of experience in organising major events. He pointed out that the first African Olympic medal was won by an Egyptian judoka in 1984.

He also pointed out that the African championships are a qualifying event for the Paris Olympics. He added that the athletes would be giving their all to win valuable points and secure qualification. Finally, he thanked the Egyptian government authorities and the President of the Egyptian Federation for their exceptional hospitality.

For his part, the President of the Egyptian Judo Federation, Aly Marzouk, thanked the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, and the President of the African Judo Union, Mr Siteny, for their confidence.
