46th African Senior Championships Abidjan 2025 – Judo Thrills Abidjan – Day 3 of Competition: Egypt Retains its African Mixed Team Championship Title

Abidjan, which hosted this continental event, was abuzz for three days. A crowd passionate about judo turned out in force to support the Ivory Coast team, but also, and more importantly, to witness the stunning judo spectacle.

Egypt defeated Algeria in this final of the African Mixed Team Championships, repeating the feat of 2024 that took place in Cairo. For this grand final, Egypt faced a formidable Algerian team. The fighters from both teams gave their all to qualify their respective teams and advance as far as possible in this competition. The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats until the final second. The match between the two nations ended in a tie (3-3). A draw and a Golden Score were needed to separate the two teams. Egypt retained its title of African Champion, and Algeria, which performed well, took the silver medal. Angola defeated Senegal to win the gold medal, while Tunisia defeated Cameroon to take third place on the podium.
