26. Apr 2025
Good morning President.
We’ve noted that your country has registered 18 athletes for the African Championships in Abidjan. You currently hold the top spot in terms of participation.
Frankly speaking, for us, the African Judo Championships remain a flagship competition on the African sports calendar. As you may know, judo is very popular in our country. The efforts made in recent years by the federation Executive team in joint efforts with the technical staff have paid off. The results achieved in recent competitions are a crystal clear evidence that we are on the right track.
What are your ambitions for the African Championships in Abidjan?
In light of the invested efforts and resources allocated to support our athletes and technical staff, we aim to place in the top three of the medal rankings.
Don’t you think that’s quite ambitious, considering these African Championships bring together the top judo nations on the continent?
It won’t be an easy task for your athletes. Indeed, we’ve noted the high level of participation in these African Championships. However, our athletes have undergone strong technical and mental preparation. We are confident they will give their very best. Our athletes have solid experience in continental competitions, and we have ambitious to be on top of judo in Africa.
Any final word, Mr. President?
I would like to congratulate the organizers for their warm welcome and hospitality. I also want to express my sincere thanks to President Siteny for trusting me to join the Directing Committee of the African Judo Union. I will work tirelessly to promote judo across the African continent and to make it a vehicle for education and social inclusion.
