IJF Congress 2023 in Doha - The African Judo Union presents a positive and eloquent record

A comprehensive, positive and eloquent assessment that expresses the vision and strategy of the African Judo Union for the progress and advancement of judo on the continent. The International Judo Federation's fruitful support in carrying out the various projects was welcomed by UAJ Secretary General Estony Hattingh Pridgeon at the IJF Ordinary Congress in Doha.

A strong African delegation made up of representatives of several countries of the continent participated in the IFJ Congress on Thursday 4 May 2023 in Doha. The refereeing department has also excelled with more referees summoned to the World Judo Tour. There is also a harmonization of the continental license and the selection of referees who are carried out according to more rigorous criteria to appear on the "ranking list" of African referees. International seminars are organized in several countries for the training and professionalization of referees.

Several competitions were organized in several countries including Senegal, Niger, Kenya, Cameroon for cadets, juniors and seniors.The African Judo Union through its sports management presented an ambitious development plan including 13 competitions held between 2021 and 2022. The specifications for the organization of continental events have been updated and continental competitions according to the IJF standard. Moreover, the number of African Open is constantly increasing and the number of athletes who have been to the Tokyo Olympics has increased by more than 60%. The UAJ now has a very good administrative management that is proving to be effective. There is a transmission of information through several multimedia technological platforms. This new team formed since the elections of the Dakar congress in 2021 has set up under the leadership of its President Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, a new strategic development plan. There is a mobilization of energies and efforts with the objection - the integration of judo as a primordial element in the African sports landscape. Judo is now a popular sport on the African continent that is composed of 54 national federations. With strong population growth and population rejuvenation, the potential for development is becoming increasingly important.
