45th African Judo Championships in Cairo: A grand opening ceremony to mark a continental event

The ceremony to mark the opening of the 45th African Judo Championships in Morocco was breathtaking. Egyptian ministers and high-ranking dignitaries were among the guests. The President of the UAJ, Mr. Siteny, praised the initiative and Egyptian hospitality.

The opening ceremony of the 45th African Judo Championships took place in a packed hall at the Cairo Stadium. In a festive atmosphere, Egyptians turned out in large numbers to support judokas from African countries, especially the local athletes. Dance performances and light shows transformed the stadium during the opening ceremony.

During his speech, the President of the African Judo Union, Mr. Siteny, commended the Egyptian Judo Federation and the country's authorities for organizing the 45th African Judo Championships. He also praised Egyptian hospitality. In the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Siteny expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian authorities' support for Olympic disciplines, particularly judo. He also mentioned Mohammed Ali Rashwan, who won a silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. This athlete played a crucial role in inspiring not only Egyptians but judokas across Africa. He has been a role model for many.

The President of the Egyptian Judo Federation, Mr. Marzouk, thanked the President of the International Judo Federation, Mr. Marius Vizer, and the President of the African Judo Union, Mr. Siteny, for their support and confidence in preparing and organizing this continental event. He wished all participants from the 34 African countries a pleasant stay on Egyptian soil.
