Day1: Mauritius and Angolan surprise by winning gold on this first day of competition

Priscilla Mourand offers Mauritius a medal after more than 24 years of waiting. The Mauritian showed her supremacy in this category of -48kg by reporting all her fights. The Angolan, Pedro Edmilson surprised many by dominating the -66kg category to clinch gold. The show was there to mark the first competition of this 43rd edition of the 2022 African Judo Championships in Oran, Algeria. The final block kept everyone spellbound in the -48kg, -52kg, -57kg for women and -60kg and -66Kg for men. Mauritius won 2 medals, one in gold and one in silver, and ranked second behind Algeria on the ranking board. Angola with a gold medal and a fifth place ranked in third position and Algeria is in the lead with 2 gold medals and 2 bronze.
