African Judo Championships in Cairo: Egypt and Algeria battle it out until the last minute

Fierce battles marked this third and final day of individual competition. Egypt and Algeria fought until the last minute to take the lead in the country rankings. Egypt and Algeria lead with 3 gold medals, 2 silver, and 3 bronze, and were separated by 5th place. At the end of this last day of individual competition in Cairo, the title in the +78KG category went to Cameroonian SOPPI MBELLE Richelle Anita and Egyptian ABORAKIA Mohamed in the +100KG category. The latter defeated Algerian LILI Mohamed El Mehdi after a fierce battle that could have gone either way at any moment, keeping the passionate judo audience on the edge of their seats. Morocco and Tunisia, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively, both secured gold medals. However, Morocco won one more silver and bronze medal than Tunisia, finishing in third place. Tunisia secured 2 gold medals, 1 silver, and 4 bronze.
